Why this action

is

important

Reducing the amount of Co2 and other greenhouse gasses entering the atmosphere is critical if we are to address climate change and the environmental havoc it is causing. Reduced car use, along with the creation of efficient public transport networks, also ensure that when higher oil prices arrive we have cost-effective mass transport systems available to all.

Environmental benefit

Reducing the amount of Co2 and other greenhouse gasses entering the atmosphere is critical if we are to address climate change and the environmental havoc it is causing. In addition, a well-used public transport system reduces the need to continually expand the asphalting of our cities and countryside.

Wellbeing benefit

Good public transport is an indicator of society's intention to be egalitarian. It provides freedom to move to all, and serves as a safety net in those times - not so far away? - when petrol prices make car travel a habit of the wealthy again. It's also a great way to travel and connect with your community and fellow citizens.
