Sustainability Case Study

Motivation
It was a dream that crystallised a decade of anxiety about our environment and propelled me into the world of sustainability. I awoke from the dream feeling deeply ashamed that I am bequeathing a natural world to my kids that is less than it was when
I was a child. I was sad that my children would have to be content with less that I had to be. But most of all I was terrified that one day they would look at me and judge me, and ask why I did nothing to stop climate change, nothing to curb my consumption of scarce resources, nothing to stop the polluting and degradation of our rivers and the over fishing of the sea.
Sustainable Living Goals
Having reduced my footprint by over 60% below the Australian Average over the past three years, my goal is to further reduce my ecological footprint or impact on the environment to a sustainable Level over the next three years.
Challenges
Starting a new business, the Natural Strategies Group, has meant that the finances are tight and investing in the structural elements of sustainability (Solar Hot water, Photovoltaic, home renovation, hybrid car, etc…) is a stretch. Reviewing the ROI and environmental value of these investments recently has helped focus my attention on Solar Hot Water as a next step.
